DELCO Farm installs rooftop solar power system – An energy solution for sustainable agriculture

To enhance energy autonomy and optimize operating costs, DELCO Farm has officially put its rooftop solar power system into operation. This marks an important step in realizing a modern agricultural model that is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly for the high-tech farm.

Rooftop solar system at DELCO’s high-tech agricultural farm

Installed on the roof of Chicken House No. 1 at DELCO Farm, the rooftop solar system has a total capacity of 135.52 kWp, using 224 panels, each with a capacity of 605 Wp. The generated electricity is directly used for production activities, daily operations, and powering automated machinery throughout the farm. The system includes inverters with a total capacity of 110 kW, ensuring high conversion efficiency and a stable power supply.

The system is also integrated with intelligent monitoring software that allows real-time tracking of power output, checks each inverter string, and detects technical issues promptly. This enables the technical team to efficiently manage and optimize energy usage.

With smart monitoring software in place, solar output is tracked in real time, individual inverter strings are checked continuously, and any technical faults are automatically flagged. This proactive approach ensures smooth operation and maintenance, helping maintain optimal performance and energy yield.

Economic efficiency and environmental contribution

Based on actual calculations, the system can meet approximately two-thirds of DELCO Farm’s total electricity demand. This supply ratio may vary depending on the season and solar radiation levels, but overall, it significantly reduces reliance on the national power grid. It is estimated that the system saves over VND 350 million annually, improving operational efficiency and reducing the risk of production interruptions.

In addition to its economic benefits, the system brings considerable sustainable value. On average, it generates around 145,800 kWh of electricity per year, helping to reduce approximately 57 tons of CO₂ emissions—based on the emission factor of 392g CO₂/kWh from the UK’s National Grid PLC.

Beyond emission reductions, the solar power system enhances production autonomy, eases the load on generators during grid outages, and ensures operational stability for the poultry farming area and microbial production workshop. This initiative clearly reflects DELCO’s long-term commitment to integrating green technologies into modern agricultural production, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development.
